OS 9 and OS X on same computer?

Hi!
I would like an advice on how can i install OS9 and OSX on the same computer.
Is it by using 2 different partition?

Please advice.

one major factor is the age of your mac. new macs can't, you see. did you mac come with os9 on it when you bought it new? tell us what mac you have.

I currently have 2 macs..
One is a powerbook G4 17 inch ( comes with OSX )
And one is an old G3 powerPC ( comes wif OS9 )

If i want to run " OS 9 " Apps, do classic works well enough for me?
 
yes, it should do. that powerbook will not be able to boot into OS9, but will happily run any Classic apps in emulation in Classic.
