I have observed that my fresh installation of OS X.1 (new from the box) periodically crashes (as in locked up with debug information[text] overwriting the gui screen....it definitely crashes when looking for startup disks.
Setup here is:

384mb ram
HD0 41gb OS9.2.1/OS X(not partitioned)
HD1 20gb OS8.6
