What do you think? Is OS 10.1(.1) the next generation OS? Or is it just another "Public beta"? Chose and write about it!

(In my opinion its Pb3! Too slow for me!:( But I love it!:D )

10.1.1, 10.1.1, 10.1.1, It's all I hear about...

Where can I get my grubby paws on such a beast? and why is it better than 10.1?

... software update (in system preferences).

...why is it better? er, no idea, but i assume apple know what they're doing when they post a new update ... :)

10.1.1 is beta. it sucks i think. install anyhow sucks. offers no difference what so ever too that is seeable. i installed it and when i restarted, all my desktop icons were now to the left of the middle of the screen. try to move, won't let me. made desktop icons view by no format at all. i unchecked the arrange by name etc. still wouldn't let me move the icons. so apple completely fucked up them jerk offs.

itunes 202 is also no different what so ever when you install it then 2.0. just a couple languages. so hmm.

Looks like apple has pulled the update, it doesn't show on my software update prefs. Anyone finding the same problem?

That's odd; well, it still looks to be available via the web .

nope, it's still there through software update. I just did it.
Word X seems to work all the time now! Before when I had classic running it would crash.
I've had nothing but good luck with 10.1.1

You do have 10.1, right? If not you can't get 10.1.1. Also did you run update while booted from 10.1? And have youe updated the software installer? Is your firmware up to date? If there is anything listed in software update to install (besides airport and ie) then you may need to install them first.
So far I haven't been able to detect that 10.1.1 does anything to improve my setup from 10.1. I wouldn't worry too much about it if you aren't having any problems in 10,1.

Sorted now, I had to install an update to the update installer in order for it to update to 10.1.1. So simple really.
Ah the joy, its... exactly the same...

Bernie )

... did mess up my icons on the Desktop, too. But I sorted it out somehow. :) ...

But somehow I can't set the .suffix thing anymore. The Finder prefs always switch back to the no-suffix setting. :( Also the Trash always asks whether I want to erase stuff (which I of coursse *DO* want when I empty it).

As I've not found the right thing in the Finder.plist file as it seems, I'll have to reinstall. Or live with it. :/

well I dont use OS X as my main OS yet.
Does not have the apps I want yet.

I have customized a little of it( as much time as I can spare between my studies) to make it to my liking and to my functionality liking, but I have some way to go still :)

No software title is ever ever complete. MOst software can be described by one of those converging graphs.... close to done but not really :p

fryke:

To solve your trash confirmation problem, switch to the Finder, and then choose "Preferences..." from the "Finder" menu (otherwise knows as OS X's application menu). Then you can uncheck "Show warning before emptying the Trash".

As per your .suffix problem, you can either go to the Finder preferences (follow above steps) and then you can check "Always show Finder extensions", or you can show extensions on an individual file basis by getting info on each file and then choosing "Name & Extension" from the popup menu and then unchecking "Hide Extension".

Hope this helps.

if youra so intelligent, do it by yourself and then tell us again how to stop the trash from asking! (Not really mad at you!:D LOL:p  )

You can simply click on the trash icon in the dock and hold down ur mouse button. A menu will appear saying "Empty trash". If u select that menu point, it will empty the trash without asking. ;)
