I just tried to update my operating system from 10.3.4 to .8 and as I was installing the .8 combo update my powerbook G4 freezed up and the screen went blank. After forcing a restart of the machine the poerbook will only get up to the white screen with the apple and won't go any further. Unfortunatly my CD slot drive crapped out a month back so I can't do a recovery install with a CD.... is there any other way I can recover the operating system? or any suggestions before I decide to visit the local apple repair guys...?
