I get the following results after running Disk Utility on my iMac (OS X 10.5.8). Are these unrepairable problems REALLY detrimental to my computer if not fixed? If so, how do I go about fixing them completely and not just "modifying" them.
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/Filesystems/AppleShare/afpLoad" has been modified and will not be repaired.

Warning: SUID file "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DiskManagement.framework/Versions/A/Resources/DiskManagementTool" has been modified and will not be repaired.

Warning: SUID file "sbin/umount" has been modified and will not be repaired.

Warning: SUID file "usr/bin/quota" has been modified and will not be repaired.

Warning: SUID file "usr/sbin/pppd" has been modified and will not be repaired.

Warning: SUID file "usr/sbin/vpnd" has been modified and will not be repaired.

Thanks in advance!

There is nothing detrimentally wrong with your computer. Those warnings are not urgent or something to worry about. Apple knows about these and has not yet released an update for Disk Utility. Apple's discussion board has many reports on this.
I wouldn't go playing with the permissions of each file as you may render them unusable. As long as your system is running smoothly, you are okay.

Notice that the messages say "Warning" -- not "Error."

Some people report that applying the latest "Combo" update from Apple for your version of OS X causes these messages to disappear.
