Unlike many, I can actually log on to a 2k3 server from Tiger, but once there, I cannot do much. I used to be able to make/delete folders, read and write files, but no more. I can start a copy which immediately halts with an error message to the effect I don't have sufficient permissions. One item only is copied. I could copy a bunch of files one item at a time, constantly clicking through the error, but it is too painful.
I have verified permissions on the server, cleared the keychain, added a nsmb.conf file like someone suggested, all to no avail.
