OS X / Classic Network Problems

I have a Netgear wireless router with a Windows XP pc connected via ethernet and my Powerbook connected via Airport card. Works great. But I decided to pull my old 7200 out of storage for my 7 yr old son. I'm having problems.

1. Powermac 7200 running OS 8.5 with OT 1.1.2
2. The router is set up as dhtp but I reserved 192.168.0.5 for the 7200 and set the card mac address in the router
3. Set the TCP/IP on the 7200 as ethernet>manual; subnet is 255.255.255.0; gateway is the router's ip 192.168.0.1(dhcp did not work either)
4. Appletalk is on, Sharing is on
5. The port on the netgear acknowledges the 7200 is there (lights up amber), but I can't see the 7200 in the Netgear admin as connected devices
6. I can ping the 7200 from my Powerbook
7. I can connect to my Powerbook from the 7200 and mount the PB's drive
8. I DO NOT see the 7200 in the PB's Network(finder)
9. I CAN NOT connect to the 7200's IP via the PB's Connect To function
10. I CAN NOT hit the web from the 7200
11. I did power cycle the router

I'm stumped. Any advice is appreciated!

If the router is set up as DHCP (even if it's set up to hand out the same IP address to a certain MAC address), then you need to set the 7200 up as DHCP without a manual IP address.

I have a similar setup, and keeping all the machines set to DHCP with dynamic IP addresses works just fine -- the router makes sure that each machine gets the same IP address every time through the MAC address.

I think the problem may be stemming from the fact that you've given the 7200 a fixed IP address in a dynamic IP address setup.
 
I'm pretty sure that I had it set up that way to begin with. But this was at 1 am so who knows! I'll try again tonight.
