OS X install wont boot

A dual 800 mHz G4 has been assigned to me as my computer at work, I have to configure it myself. It previously only had OS 9 on it, as it was a digital performer workstation. I want to put 10 on it so I can run Pro Tools 6.
I wiped the HD and installed 9.2.2 on it with no problem. However it refuses to boot from ANY Os X disc that Ive tried. I Used my original store bought copy of 10.2, and then I tried using the 10.2.1 discs that came with a new dual 1.25 gHz G4, but still nothing works.
The cd gets put in the drive, retstart, hold down c, black screens (dual monitor), cd spins indefinately, powerlight remains on, nothing happens.
Today at work I will try the 10.1 discs that originally came with the 800, but I'm at a loss, any ideas? This machined has never had OS X on it before.

Dual 800 G4
512meg RAM
2-80 GB ATA HD's
120 GB Firewire Drive
Protools Core Card
Protools Farm Card
Adaptect Dual SCSI Card
Dual VGA Video Card

The first thing to do is try to select the cd in the startup disk control panel (first copy the updated version from the install cd) and reboot.

If that doesn't work, the other option is to detach all non-stock items from the G4 and try it again. Sometimes even items that are OS X compatible seem to stop booting and installing. And sometimes you have RAM that is suspect but OS 9 deals with it fine.

well,

I yanked all the non-apple pci cards out of the machine, I even downloaded and updated the firmware on the superdrive. No dice. Not even the 10.1 disk that originally came with this machine will boot it up.
I'm going crazy, is it proabable that the memory is the issue?

I need opinions people.

Thanks in adavence.

Have you reset the PRAM/CUDA? Try that if not.

Are both monitors still attached? Try removing one.

Also, download DIMM First Aid and check your RAM (in OS 9) from here

If you have an error, pull that chip and try again.

The Dimms are fine, I just ran Dimm first Aid. I will try zapping the pram and removing the monitor in a little bit. I think I might alsot ry connecting an external cd drive and try booting from it.

will any OSX CD mount when OS 9 is running? If so, have you tried the normal OS X install from 9, which reboots to the CD as the first step? (Now for an old trick that might succeed for you) Try a PRAM reset, but continue with opt-apple-P and R held for 5 full restart beeps, then, with CD boot CD in place, hold the C key and see what happens.

yes, OSX CD's mount, but running the installer that way and waiting for it to reboot itself results in the same thing. So I just tried your zapping the PRAM, then holding down c idea, which I thought was a great idea, and still nothing.
