I called tech support and they confirm that these machines will not be able to run the beta until final release (maybe longer due to digital audio).

Im very upset that I ordered a machine for development and im screwed untill release date. and then chances are I will not see the OS for a week or 2 after release.

WTG Apple on screwing your developers/customer base.

At least they can put on website that these machines dont run OS X

Also note in developer logins not to buy hardware (like I did) expecting it to run OS X beta.
 
Yeah, had to realize this too. Just bought a new G4 and couldn't install public beta.
There was no warning on Apples webpages. I'd like to piss on Steves pullover.
