I am more PC inclined than MAC but
I recently upgraded a iMac to OS X from 9.2. Everything went fine. User was using it for a couple of days and loved it.

After about 3 days the user calls me and tells me that when she booted up the iMAC was back to OS 9.2.

How could this happen? Did the user accidently press something? How can I get back to OS X?

Check the control panel. Specifically, go into 'Control Panels' from the Apple menu, and choose 'Startup disk'. You should be able to reset to boot into OS X from there.

As to why it reverted, I have no idea.

Edit: Doh! lethe beat me to it...

my iMac used to do that when it was crashed.. like after a powercut or something that turned off your computer without shutting it down.

It would always reboot in OS 9 after a crash

I have since reinstalled OS X and then put OS 9 back on afterwards. It dosent boot into 9 anymore when it crashes. I dont know if this is connected or not but thats what happened to me!
