OS X Unknown Printing Issues??????????????

Got a crazy higher-up (out-of-state) who insists that HP printers don't work with OS X - has actually recommended to the much-much-higher-ups that we switch to PC rather than upgrading OS9 to X enterprise-wide because of the cost of replacing all our printers.

What am I missing here? I have been using 10.2.6 with all different kinds of HP printers with no real problems. Apps are Quark 4.11 in classic/Adobe Suite X/MS Office X. Minor glitches at the beginning but most of it was me and the learning curve.

I have searched forums, read website after website and can find nothing that concurs with this wildman. He's usually not this stupid.

Anyone out there that can shed some light??? Is he crazy or am I???

First of all: one questionmark would have been clear enough! ;)
Second: welcome to the forum!
third: he is crazy

Sorry for the obnoxious question marks ... I'll tone it down next time ... just frustrated.

Thanks for the response and validation - that's all I'm looking for.

He's crazy, but there may be a slight reason for it.

The early version, before 10.2, had difficulties when released with HP printer drivers. Manily, they were slow as heck while printing. This issue has since been resolved, and in all actuality besides maybe Epson, HP is the most Mac-Compliant producer of printers.

The learning curve, cost of Software, and downtime from crashed PCs (if running M$) would make the cost of replacing printers seem like pocket change, even if they had to replace printers.

The slight truth in the Crazy Man's HP statement is that HP printers, im my experience, do print slower when used with a Mac as compared to using them with a PC. I us a HP photosmart 7350. When used with my PC it prints faster than when used with my Mac. The print job is a bit slower reaching the printer and the printer actually prints slower. I am running 10.2.8 with the most current HP drivers on my Mac. I don't know why this is so, but it is. The quality of the printing is exactly the same on both platforms.

wondering why it should be so. USB is the bottleneck for the speed. And windows usb ain't faster...
