OSX.2.4 501 Error When Emptying Trash

Hello

We have setup 26 eMacs running OSX.2.4. We are having problems with the administration user deleting the trash. I have found several solutions which require either a terminal command to be used to empty the trash or a 3rd party utility to be used to alter permissions to empty the trash. These work. However, whenever I trash more files, I then need to go through the same process all over again. I need a solution that doesn't require intervention as that creates more support work.

The administration user has full access to the .Trash folder in the account and the files within that folder. I believe the problem I am having is associated with permissions somewhere in the OSX system. However I'm not sure where. Following is the error message I am getting:

"The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient priveleges for "501".

Any help or advice would be appreciate.

Are you just a non-admin user? If so, the only applications you'll be able to trash are the ones in you own Users account.

By the way, has your administrator try Disk Utility and ran Repair Privileges?

Hello

Yes I had full administration priveleges. I can also delete the trash while su'd into root using the rm command. I just can't empty it using the OS X GUI. I have also repaired the priveleges. I think I've downloaded every possible document on emptying the trash. A really good article (which didn't work for me) for anyone else experiencing problems is:
