OSX copy misaligning

Hi all. I have an issue with the appearance of the OS on my new iMac. The copy on things like the iCal icon in the dock and the tabs in the facial recognition in iPhoto, is misaligned. (I've added a screenshot so you can see what I mean.) Also, when I drag an application icon in the dck there's a 'lag' to to the motion. The icon moves further away from my mouse as I drag it from left to right.
Any ideas why this would be?

That stack of cupcakes looks a little shaky, but there's nothing else that seems related to your question...
Unless you mean the text is overlapping the graphic?
Is that the problem that you are describing?
Could be a damaged system font. You could do a scan for font problems with your Font Book app.

Doesn't appear to be a font issue. Anyone got any other ideas?
