osX on a imac 333mhz?

About your CD spinning problem...sorry to say but this may be the beginning of the end of your CD drive. I also have a 333Mhz iMac and about a year ago, the CD drive started doing exactly what yours is doing. It will only read certain CDs and it has a lot of trouble with CDRs. It just keeps spinning and it's really annoying. So annoying that I haven't used the drive in a year or so. What I did was purchase an external Que!Drive Burner and it is what I use to read(and write) CDs now. When it first happened I read a bunch of forum messages and they confirmed to me that the "old powerbook style" CD drive they decided to put in the iMacs are prone to breakdowns.

Hope this at least puts you on the right path!

The CD-ROM drive on this computer (the G3) trips over some CD's as well, usually CD-R's. It got better after the great overhaul of last (school) year, but it's not completely fixed. These things just tend to happen.

Beau, why are you rooting around in old threads? Just wondering...
