OSX Reliability with Multiple Disk configurations

...am I the only one to conclude that one Big hard disk is (a lot) more liable (less susceptible to software crashes) than several hard disks?

...or is this a specific problem with PowerMac G4 FW800??

I run three internal hard drives and two external hard drives (one USB 2.0, one FireWire 400) and have no problems with stability (I'm not using a G4 FW800 machine, though).

What kind of problems are you experiencing, exactly?
 
...when I access any hard drive (which are all Apple formatted) I sometimes get the "rotating colour disk" - which eventually requires a hard reset. I don't get this when I use a single hard disk?
