OSX won't install error -199

Ok, so I'm new, let's get that out of the way first...
so I go to install OSX on my Beige G3 server minitower, I just installed a 40gb ide drive and partitioned it as I have read. I put the CD install in my Iomega and it sees it. As soon as I click on the installer, it comes up with the message "the application Install Mac OSX cannot be opened because an error of type -199 has occured" what gives? any suggestions welcome and maybe it's just destined that I should not install OSX on this machine. I upgraded the processor to a 500mhz from a 233mhz and have 576 megs of ram installed. I have read that maybe it might not like the processor upgrade, but I have also read that it doesn't matter. And, maybe this is what is the problem, there is a SCSI card in one of my PCI slots that is inactive. This tower came from a school district admin office.
NOTE!
I found out the problem was the CD burner! DUH! Once I put it in the internal CD Rom, it started seeing the installer and even opened it. But....SEE BELOW!

try installing by booting from the CD. either by choosing the cd as the startup volume in the control panel/system preferences or by holding down the 'c' key while rebooting.

Wow, that was fast!
Ok, so I tried that Friday night, I may be new, but I can find my way around a mac! LOL, I tried booting from the CD Friday night and then I get a blank screen with the prompt "Message Unknown" or something like that. Every time I tried to reboot the Machine, it would go right back to the CD and I eventually had to disconnect the IDE and pull out the CD and it found it's way back to my old HD, thank god!. I am really interested to see what the buzz about OSX is and am eager to see what it does and can do. I got the CD from a guy at work with an update CD with it. It is from his Imac that he is selling and I am wondering if maybe since it is the original OSX that it might not be compatible with this G3. That doesn't seem likely though, as Apple says OSX is capable of running on a G3.

Alrighty Then!
SO I get home from work, and have both the SCSI and the new 40gb hard drive on the desktop and off I go to finish installing OSX. Now, it installs the OS or so it says, no error messages, just the "spinning beach ball of death" and then when it restarts, it automatically reboots to 9.1. Everytime! But I notice a message when it starts to reboot running at the top of the monitor "Cannot open, PCI card" some kind of message like that. I went into the disk looking around to see any indication of whether OSX is installed and I find some things that seem to indicate it is. My question is, if you do a clean install with 9.1 and OSX, do you install 9.1 first (I am probably answering my own question here, I'm tired) and then OSX, and do they have to reside in the same partition? I transferred, (copied, to all you folks in Fountain, Colorado) all the files I could 'cept the system stuff. Plenty of space for anything, thought about moving in myself, and I still can't get it to go into OSX. I keep getting the PCI message at the top. I have an Ethernet (Avanti) card, a USB card (belkin) and a scsi card and finally, the display card. Am I missing something here? I am sure it is something I am overlooking and it's simple, it usually is, but has anyone out there run across this before?
