Outlook 2001 OS9 Attachment Issue

If I try to open an attachment in outlook 2001 word and excel are fine. For jpegs, gifs, i set the internet properties to adobe reader 5.0 and when i had that set the icon turned into the pdf icon, before it was blank. I thought i was good to go, but i went to open the pdf and it said something about the program couldn't be found even though i set it to the application adobe reader 5.0 and it opens up fine when i navigate to the app in the application folder. I even tried using the picture viewer and the quicktime app and both resulted with the same problem. I need help!!!

Basically what I found searching was this, and i did hours of searching, literally. This is my exact problem, which shows that attachments are fine when i boot into os9, but in osx 10.39 and classic outlook 2001 won't show either pdf's or gifs, jpegs correctly. And also from this link i tried what the guy mentioned and it seems like when i make a change while in osx to the advanced/file mapping it won't save the settings it reverts back to whatever it was originally, so i guess that is the issue. It won't save my changes. Here is the link, any suggestions i would greatly appreciate it.
