Hello,

I am having trouble getting iMovie 09 to recognize this camera to allow me to capture video.

any help would be great

Here's a compatibility article for iMovie 09 supported devices.
Yours is not on the list.

There is some hints in that article about possibly getting some non-supported camcorders to work.

Are you trying to use the USB connection, and have you tried the FireWire (IEEE-1394) connection? FireWire is more likely to work...

I have seen the list but it also mentions that the list is not 100% accurate and some others may also work, hopefully mine included. there is an article on this forum site which mentions the exact same problem, this was subsequently resolved but did not mention how....handy.

going to buy a firwire cable today

It seems FireWire is the answer, Bought the new cable today. camera has to be in video playback mode and the mighty mac does the rest.
