Part of one of my band's songs (Exclusive)

Rockee
Hey, as some of you know I'm in a band named Idium. We've used my Mac to record a few tracks, but most of them don't have drums and none of them have vocals yet. I've always known that as soon as we had a track that sounded good and was completed I'd post it here. Well, I'm getting tired of waiting, so here's a one and a half minute sneak peek of one of our songs. It's called "Second Chance", it doesn't have any vocals yet and I've become a much better drummer since we recorded the drums a few months ago so we need to re-record that. Anyway, enough apologizing here you go:

Second Chance (Preview)
AAC Audio - Requires iTunes 4 or QT 6.2

hahaha u stole my idea.... i was about to submit my band's song too!
hmmmm..... i will! here's a minute of MY band's song:
My Pride
Now i may warn you.... when i played guitar i messed up a bit cuz we always start laughing in hte middle of a song.... the singer didnt hit some notes right also..... but just listen to this minute clip!
PS. wdw that is pretty cool!

wdw - pretty cool clip. Sounded pretty good (if ya do re-record it, post it. I'd like to hear the difference).

Androo - Um...your singer needs singing lessons...the guitar was OK...

Androo - That was good. It needs work and your singer does needs some singing lessons, but you have potential. The lyrics were pretty good and the guitar was great. BTW,According to your profile you're 23 years old. I was looking at your band's web page and I don't know who was who, but none of you looked 23.:D

i think their combined age +2 = 23. :p

im sure when the lead singers nuts drop, he'll sound better. dont give up!

haha wait till that singer hits puberty and BAM that band could kick it... both are good sounding - are either of them studio produced or done at home on your mac's?

wdw: sounds great, can't wait to hear the vocals!
Androo: Umm...keep practicing and have you singer get some lessons ASAP

Since we're all posting songs, visit scotthenthorn.com and click downloads. He is a friend of mine and I host his songs on my iDisk. He is very good, but he still needs help with his mixing :) Keep trying to talk him into letting me do it, but he refuses. He does all of the instruments and vocals himself. Tell me what you think, and I'll forward the link to him

nice to see songs being posted, and i'd thought i'd post my mate's song he recorded a couple of weeks ago. the singer is the younger brother (col) and the guitarist and backing is the older brother (cam). together they are 'fink'.

I reckon it's a top song, and makes for good fun sitting around after a party and singing craptasticly at the top of your lungs...

Fink - Punk Rock Song

Hahaha, that's hilarious! Everyone should listen to that song.

Though I have to say...it's not really punk rock...needs drums! But it sounds great.

They have anything else they're willing to let someone listen to?

wdw, some constructive criticism:

not bad for an early recording effort. dunno how you're recording this (meaning how many mic's, if you're doing it live or overdubbing, etc) so it's rather hard to advise but here's what i think.

your snare drum is way too quiet. i can barely hear the kick either. on the other hand, the cymbals sound too loud, but that's cause the drums themselves are quiet.

guitar sounds like it's running straight into the recorder...this doesn't work with distortion, you have to mic the amp.

for rock, i would recommend you double track the guitar. you get a much fuller sound this way...

the bass seems loud, but this might be cause the guitar is rather quiet.

just some thoughts off the top of my head while listening. like i said, not bad for an early effort. the key to recording is experimentation. and mixing is like a juggling act. keep messing around and you can only get better at it. :)

It's definately the acoustic version, they haven't gone as far as getting a full blown super-duper recorded version going yet. it's good to see you like it though :D i'm really interested to see if people actually like it as a song - the guys a very talented song-writer (i reckon anyway)
