Running G5 with tiger with a 200gig HD - can someone talk me thru how to partition it ? Or advise me whether it's a good idea or not i.e safe etc ?

To partition your drive, you would boot off your Tiger disc by holding the C key down.

Choose your Language on the first screen.
Go up to the Utility Menu to Disk Utility.
Click your hard drive, then the erase tab. You'll see the commands.

Doing this will completely erase the drive.

Partitioning is an individual preference. Some people like having partitions, some don't.

It is safe, but usually not necessary.

Unless you want to install another operating system like for example linux, I don't see a real need for partitioning a 200 GB drive in a PowerMac G5.
