password problem

i was trying to install a driver and i type in my user name and password when it asks, but it says its invalid. what the hell? i know for sure its right, i tried typing it in like 50 times. but when i go to add a printer and type in the info, it works perfectly. whats wrong? i have a g3 imac with mac os x 10.3 panther

I have the same problem, only I get some weird dialogue after installing a security update that asks me to enter my password to use System. I can enter my password and it never accepts it. I just have to hit cancel.

For your problem, try making another account and see if it works in that.
