Password recovery for 2008 word doc

Hi all,

I have forgotten the password to a word doc (2008). I would prefer to recover the password, if not just accessing the document would be fine - is there any way?

I don't think any utility like that exists for the Mac, but if you have access to a Windows computer, there are more than a handful of utilities that claim to be able to do this:

Just as an FYI, if Word document passwords were easy to recover or bypass, what good would they be? They'd be as useful as a deadbolt lock on a door that unlocks with any generic, long, pointy object.
