patch to disable UOP checking in DVD Player.app

I got bored the other day and wanted a challenge, so I decided to reverse-engineer DVD Player.app a bit to disable the ever-annoying UOP prohibitions. This has been done for older versions, but as far as I can tell there's no up-to-date patch available.

I was successful, and I was feeling so ambitious that I gathered binaries from up-to-date 10.4, 10.5, and 10.6 systems and patched them all. (All architectures, too: ppc, ppc64, i386, and x86_64. That means powerpc and intel, 32-bit and 64-bit, for those who don't speak Dork.)

Now you can skip all that annoying content and change audio or subtitle tracks anytime you like!

The patch is attached to this post. It's pretty self-explanatory and user-friendly: double-click the zip, double-click the dmg that comes out, then see the README file inside the dmg or just double-click "patch-dvdplayer.command" to apply the patch.

Alternatively, you can get it here: http://ifile.it/zx8jcm7/dvdplayer-patch.dmg

If your system isn't supported by the patch, it will tell you so and give you information that you can pass on to me so that I can update the patch.

I'll be happy to say more about my reverse-engineering techniques, if anyone is interested in that.

Enjoy!
