Hey,
so after months of just the corner on the bottom of my powerbook being loose, the whole front has started to come loose and drop away from the clips.i) is there anyway to just 'bend' it back into shape?? if so what screwdriver in order to take it off?? ii) will this effect the cd drive? it made a funny noise when i ejected a disc this morning... like it didnt come out in exactly a straight line or something... or iii) in eu/ireland where can i pick up a replacement bottom?... dont want to send it back to apple cause it'll probably take ages and i need it at the minute anyhow... also i dont have applecare....
oh and this is a long shot, but whats the warrenty on these macines?(in eu)
powerbook spec. as below.

Good question. Did you call Apple to find out? Do you have an Apple Store nearby?

Havent phoned apple yet, havent had time and nope no apple stores here in ireland yet... my friend is looking for address of dealers in my area, Belfast, who might be able to fix it, i dont want it to be away too long as its my only computer and i need it for typing up my uni work.
I remember reading somewhere that there was a problem with glue that apple used in the original G4PB's, i imagine this is why the corner originally lifted... so i wonder would apple fix it free of charge  possibly wishfull thinking, anyway ill try and phone apple during the week

I have the first generation Ti 400 MHz. I replaced the hard drive (with something larger) and there was no glue holding the bottom on. The bottom kind of snaps on with screws to hold into place. The Powerbook G4 manual shows this. Also, this site shows pictures of what your Powerbooks looks without the bottom on it. The bottom comes off really easy. Just make sure none of the placements where the screws fit into are stripped out.

hmm... now im wonderin why the corner lifted initialy... it didnt get any drops or anything, it just sorta made sense that glue or somthin wore away and it just sorta lifted...
I have the option to buy a replacement case but its for the 550 combo drive model up, mine is the original 550 with the dvd drive and option to upgrade to a cd-rw (which i did)... the internals of the machine are supposed to be different (redisgned for heat dissipation) but the outer casing may be the same... does anybody know? i think the only change might be a fan hole on the bottom of the casing which isnt on mine....
