Pb g4 15"superdrive ejects cd´s

My powerbook (FW 800 model) suddenly started ejecting all the cds i tried to insert in its slot loading drive. It reads them for a very brief moment and spits them out. I checked from system profile and also with tech tool if they would find fault in hardware, i.e. in superdrive, but they reported that its working fine. I resetd pram and pmu also repaired permission, just in case, but nothing helps. Any ideas what to do? Is it hardrive issue or some software issue? I also created another user and logged in, but still not working...

I recently did update install on tiger and updated tiger on its most recent version, and after that had some problems with some of the software, maybe thats the case?
