I got my PowerBook G4 20 months ago and managed to drop it twice :-( The first time hard-disk got damaged, so I replaced it. Things were fine until the second drop 4 months later. I got the new hard disk (just to eliminate that possibility), but cannot make the PB working properly.
The installation process starts fine, but it stops halfway through as the PB just freezes. If I try again, it freezes even earlier - I cannot even boot from CD.
However, if I leave it for a couple of hours, the installation stops at, more or less, the same point. And all over again.
The hardware tests passes without any errors, but if I try again, it fails. Then I have to wait for a while before attempting anything again.
I tried installing from another mac - the same behaviour.
Any views on this?
