PB - Leftside USB port not working

Hi all!

Got back from hols (left the PB at home, secure) and have a strange problem with the left side usb port - it doesnt function at all. I have tried it out with various usb apps such as my mouse, hard drive and hub to no avail. I read about 'Zapping the pram' is that right? and if so, how exactly do i go about it?

any help or advice, as always is greatly appreciated, thankyou

Well, you could try to zap the PRAM. When the machine starts up, after you hear the startup chime, hold down Command (Apple key) + Option + P + R until you hear the startup chime again.

It's possible the USB port is just dead. Do you have AppleCare for this machine? If so, you should take it in ASAP. I believe that port is on a strip of ports going back to the power socket, and they can replace the whole thing without touching the logic board. Which is a good thing.

Thanks for getting back to me Bill, i have tried to Zap the Pram, which unfortnately didnt do the trick, so I guess its back to the shop with this little bugger - thankyou
