any one has pc maclan experience?

i shared a hp 1020 printer from a pc using pcmaclan, the client is a macbook. I can send the print job to pc, and then, the printer seems received print job and the lights blinking. but after a while,it stops.

lots of people said pc maclan support nonpostcript printer, but i can't print. any one has idea?

many thanks!

from pc server side, i select "general nopostscript printer"
from mac 10.5.x side, i use appletalk and select "general postcript printer"

That may be the problem right there -- if the printer is set up as a NON-postscript printer on the Windows side, but you have it set up as a postscript printer on the Mac side (and, hence, the data sent to the printer from the Mac would be in postscript format), then it makes sense that it wouldn't work that way.

You cannot send postscript data to a non-postscript printer. Set up the printer on the Mac side to be a non-postscript printer and try the test print again.

thanks for your reply!

But how does Apple can set up a non postscript printer? all of drivers apple support are postscript drivers.

any ideas?

why I select nonpostscript from pc side is because pc maclan does support non postscript printing from pc side (at least they said that)

PC MacLan is no longer in development. There is no great loss because it serves no useful purpose under MacOS X.

You can setup your printer using Windows's built-in printer sharing facilities. You may communicate with your HP LaserJet 1020 via CUPS. There dozens of threads about CUPS on this forum--and that's just this week. You can download the required driver here. You can find CUPS documentation in the Gutenprint bundle. You can find everything there is to know about the built-in CUPS facilities on your computer here.
