I know this is a mac forum and i should have stuck with macs but yet i ventured to build my own pc, i changed some settings in bios i increased the system bus from 100 to 200 mhz, the machine will no longer boot, the keyboard doesnt light up, the restart and the power on/off button doesnt work, well i hope that there is some way to reset bios..or i think im screwed, its biostar motherboard running awards bios, it has an athlon xp 2400+. someone please help!!!
thanks,

I've built two PCs as well, but increasing the system bus is beyond my knowledge. I wish you luck. You should try some PC boards.

Some motherboards allow you to reset the bios by holding the HOME key down while you power on. Many, however, use a hardware jumper to allow it to be reset.

If you've got the little manual booklet that came with the motherboard, that will usually indicate a jumper point on the board for resetting BIOS. If you don't have the booklet, try searching the motherboard manufacturer's site.
Usually the jumper works by moving it to a certain pair of pins and leaving it there for a few seconds (disconnect the board from the power supply too, as a residual charge in there can actually keep the BIOS memory going even if its been unplugged for hours - I learnt that one through a lot of trial and error). Then, switch the jumper back to its normal position and the BIOS will be reset.

do what symphonix said with the CMOS clear jumper. To make sure this doesnt happen again you should take your CPU speed and divide it by the multiplier u have set to get the correct fsb.

Or increase the FSB until it recognizes the cpu as a XP 2400+ this will take a lot more trial and error though.

If you can't find the reset jumper, you can usually do a full BIOS reset by (make sure power cord is DIS-connected first) flipping the NVRAM battery in its mount (so its connected backwards) for a couple of seconds. Flip back into normal position, plug power back in, power up and go to your BIOS setup screen. You should ALWAYS know the procedure to back out of a BIOS change just in case things go wrong!

thanks, i reset the jumpers and everything is working fine now...well except for my power supply died for some mysterious reason...:-( oh well i replaced, i still have my macs though!
