PC Video card in a Mac

... can he put that in his G5 Mac Pro ...
There is no such thing as a G5 Mac Pro. There are several models of the Power Mac G5 and iMac G5. These are based on members of the PPC 970 family of processors from IBM. There is also the Mac Pro line which is based on Intel processors. The Mac Pro replaced the Power Mac G5 in Apple's product line.

A graphics card requires Mac-specific firmware to work in a Power Mac G5. My guess is that the same is true of graphics cards for the Mac Pro, but I am not sure. If the card works works with Macs, then you can rest assured that the manufacturer advertises it to Mac users. Check the manufacturer's website or call it.

The MacPro, with PCI-express slots, does not have an AGP slot, so nogo for any AGP card, PC or otherwise. Depending on the G5 PowerMac, most have an 8x AGP slot. The last G5 also does not have an AGP slot, moving to PCI Express slots for that model.
An AGP PC video card needs to be flashed to a Mac ROM, usually while installed in a PC. The resulting hybrid video card is often unstable, although some will work. Depends on the brand/type of vid card. xlr8yourmac.com is a good site to check for possible PC video cards that can possibly be made to work in a Mac.
