pdf to word

Open the PDF document, select all, copy, paste to a word (or other text editor) document. That should work.
If it doesn't, what exactly isn't copied correctly?

Yeap. As for unrestricted PDF files, select all-->copy-->paste to a word (or other text editor) document will work.
However, There are lots of PDF files which are restricted and encrypted by authors that do not allow readers to copy contents. For this kind of files, I always use Adreamsoft PDF to Word Converter to convert them into Word and get further editing as it rarely supports converting encrypted PDF files. Besides, all the elements and layout are preserved well from original files. You can have a try.

The only *really effective* program that will do this (and the only program, period, that will work if the PDF is of a graphic image of a text page) is:

OmniPage Pro/Macintosh (srp $500)
http://WWW.NUANCE.COM/imaging/omnipage/omnipage-macintosh.asp

OmniPage Pro is expensive, but here is a place to get it direct for only $99:

or

It is the only product that can recognize complex formatting in a PDF and preserve it. Also, being an OCR program, it can turn a graphic image back into text (and still preserve the formatting).

There are other products that will convert a PDF into Word's ".doc"
format, but they will all be somewhat less effective.

PDF2Office (Personal/Pro $59/$129)

If you need to convert plenty of PDF files and some of them are encrypted and call for higher conversion quality, I recommend you to try Tweak PDF to Word 3.0 Converter. It is a cost-effective and competent tool. t supports encrypted files and preserves text, layouts, images and hyperlinks well.

Forgive me for being a skeptic, but this was "Mass's" first post. The "Tweak PDF to Word" site looks identical to several scam sites that I've seen, and the site doesn't list any contact information for the company other than via e-mail. No phone number, no address, not even a mention of what state they are in.

A whois search on tweakpdf.com doesn't get you an address either. But it does show that the site owner is in China.

Further checking shows that the site doesn't mention a Macintosh version of Tweak PDF to Word, and that the demo download is an ".exe" file (a Windows executable file, which won't run on a Macintosh.)

It appears that caution is warranted when dealing with this company and product.

Don't get omnipage pro mac! it is a 2003 program that will not run on my Intel Mac os 10.6.2. Now I am trying to get my money back!

Wish I had seen your post before I plunked down $500 this morning for Omnipage only to learn that: (1) it won't work; (2) none of the work arounds work with Snow Leopard because you can't reboot in classic form; and (3) it's basically pre 2003 without any apparent effort to support Snow Leopard...
Let me know how your refund efforts work out; I think once of the big points is that the only way you find out it won't work with Snow Leopard is to find the Tech Note 2653 or 2655 (may be off on the numbers)...but it certainly is buried and hard to find...

Thanks much; I've requested a refund/cancellation and hope there will be no issues...very much appreciate your quick response.

Made a misake! I am using Omnipage SE not LE. I have not found a source for it. Can one give away old software that is no longer sold or supported?
