recently I tried to open some previously opened files directly from my external hard drive.
Although the folder opened, the individual files would not
When I dragged them to Iview media pro they appeared in the iview window and opened when I dragged them one by one onto the desktop .
However it seemed as if their very existence upset the laptop.
Scrolling down through the items on the folder suddenly caused the temporary disappearance of desktop icons , bluetooth became disabled and the finder window kept coming and going. There seemed to be some kind of semi freeze and I had to restart. I then copied them onto my main hard drive and trashed what was in the external. Same problem. I have now managed to burn the offending folders onto CDs ( the CDs seem to function ok) and trashed the original folders completely. I carried out a random check of other folders and files on the external and so far have found no other rogue folders. Can anyone explain what MAY be going on ? Why these particular folders? The only thing they had in common was that they were both folders of scans of prints, negs and slides done some time ago and put into the external from CDs. I have also managed to open them on other occasions
