They have not released the driver yet for Jaguar. I have been checking this page:

I got a message back from HP stating:

Reply from Hewlett Packard
Thank you for contacting Hewlett-Packard's Commercial Solutions Center.

We apologize for any inconvenience that has occurred due to our product and drivers. We develop drivers based on final releases of specific operating systems rather than beta versions and will not release drivers until they meet our standards for compatibility and dependability. We are developing drivers for OS 10.2 at this time and estimate their arrival soon. You can use our subscription services to keep posted on all of the latest details and updates for your product with the following link:

http://subscription.support.hp.com/hpss/Home

PLEASE NOTE: OS 10.2 is shipped with built-in drivers that can be used by our printers. If you have installed the 1.3.x version of our driver we recommend that you uninstall the driver and contact Apple for assistance with reinstalling the built-in drivers that ship with OS 10.2. The PhotoSmart Printers are not supported at this time. Please use the following links for information regarding OS 10.2 and our line of printers.

The following has been reported as a workaround:

This process requires the printer driver be installed in Mac OS 9 and successfully able to print in the Classic Environment. However, foreground printing will probably be required (allocating 300K to the Mac OS 9 PrintMonitor extension should enable background printing). Also, Acrobat Reader is required, preferably version 4.

1. In Mac OS X, open the document that you wish to print.
2. Choose "Print" and then click the "Preview" button.
3. This will open the document in the Preview application.
4. In Preview, save the document as a PDF file.
5. Then open the PDF file with Acrobat Reader 4, which will launch in Classic.
6. Print the PDF with Acrobat Reader.

Note: Acrobat Reader 5 is a carbon application so it will still open in Mac OS X when launched. The computer will have to be rebooted in Mac OS 9 in order to print the PDF with Acrobat Reader 5. Here is the download page for Acrobat Reader 4:

Should a solution become available, the upgrade/patch will be made available through the Hewlett-Packard Customer Care support page. Please check the web page from time to time for updated software.

Oh well from HP! I will just continue to use cups and wait for them to issue an updated driver for my P1000. I upped the resolution for printing to 600x600 so the outpur is a lot better. Still not good enough to print out my digital pictures though.
