Photostudio misses TWAIN library

Hi all,
probably a stupid question, but I don't know much about these things:

I used Arcsoft's Photostudio that came along with my Canon scanner for scanning, and it worked out well in the past.
Now, without changing anything, when I hit the scanner icon a message pops up, saying "no TWAIN-library found on your system".

I don't know what a TWAIN is, or how to reinstall a TWAIN-library, nor did I find informations at related websites.

Any ideas how I can fix this, or a different way to control my scanner?

Thanks in advance.

Try this:

Certain HP scanner/all-in-one drivers replace a file using an older version, you no longer have the ability to access the Canon TWAIN drivers from any application (information from Canon). If this is the case, would require a download of the “Mac OS X Data Source Manager” (DSM) from www.twain.org:

http://www.twain.org/mac/TWAIN_for_Mac_OS_X_SDK.dmg.bin

Once the file is downloaded and the disk image is mounted, double-click it to open it. Note: This may have automatically mounted a disk image upon download. If so, continue.
Double-click on the 'TWAIN for Mac OS X SDK' mounted disk image.
Double-click the Libraries folder for your computer (not for you user).
Copy the file "TWAIN Source Manager.Shlb" to the [Library/CFMSupport/].
Special Note: The original "TWAIN Source Manager.Shlb" file, which did
work but was replaced by the older version, was located in:

System/Library/CFMSupport/

You can try replacing it as well, if the above does not work.
