picking through deleted trash possible?

I've got an interesting situation:
someone I know has deleted important stuff (yeah I know, no need to comment). Under OS 9 I used norton utils unerase. Since norton is not doing that any longer (and I have never needed trash recovery for myself) I am in the dark as to what to suggest this guy.


Any ideas ?
 
Not unless the guy was running OS 9, ric, and even then, that program needs to be installed before you actually delete anything to be of any use. In addition, I didn't see one positive review of that application.

It's found a few deleted files on my system -- no guarantees, but it seems to me to be the best for recovering data from those "oops" times.
