Pinter 7 is oddly slowing down on my G4, AFTER a file is open awhile....

....I'm using painter 7 in OS X (10.1.3),850 + RAM on a 733mhz Quicksilver G4....

OS X operates behind the scenes in it's memory consumption usage, right?
Lately (last couple of weeks -- been "painting" w/ it since Jan. 2002 when I got the G4), after a while of an image file being open, an image file (8.5 x 11, 300 dpi) that I'm "painting" will start to really slow down. The color chooser starts to squiggle and will jump around in the triangle after I choose the color -- strange. Finally I can't take it any more and do a restart and it seems to solve it for awhile, then it creeps slow again.???? Happens whether other programs are open or not.

Yes I've got a few images now laying around the hard disk now, but I've never gotten one warning about memory??? I don't consider this image that large (or is it? I'm new to working digitally)

Any insight is much appreciated to what might be going on. I thought my new relatively expensive and "powerful" system would have easily waded through a large file -- all the time, not just after a reboot???

Thanks, Birdman
