Play 2 QT Movies/MP3's Simultaneously?

Hi, how can you start to play two audio or video files at exactly the same time? Is there a way to open the same file twice and also play it simultaneously? Thanks!

If you pony up the #30 to get QT Pro you should get an aption in the Movie menu which says Play All Movies. That will allow you to do as Steve does in demoes. It's also a pretty sweet way to test audio qualitie between compressions and such.

As for playing two instances of the same movie ... not quite. It goes against the Macintosh UI paradigm to open a file twice. It wasn't until OS X that you could have two views of a folder open at once. However, one of the save options is to save movie with dependencies. This pretty much makes pointers to the real content in the other movie, but allows you to save an independant file at a tiny fraction of the original movie's size.

OK, you called my number on the $30, however still don't understand why qt-pro is not included in jaquar.

Anyway, thanks for the help ~ I saw Monsiuer Jobs perform the task at the Apple Expor keynote yesterday morning. It was a great day!!

:-) Because then it'd be $160 :-)

What I don't understand is why they draw the line between normal QT and QT pro where they do. I think exporting should be the lockout, and that all playback features should be enabled in normal QT. That would seem to match the users.

My guess is that they did that for long enough, and it just wasn't bringing in the cash. So they hobbled the free version to make more people pay $30 rather than make the few people pay $60

Anyway, I'll be purchasing my 3rd QT Pro license. If anyone should be angered about getting ripped off for QT, it should be me. ... but $30 is such a low price for what all QT does, that I'm still OK with that. For thoe who are just using OT to play back the Star Wars trailer - I'm not sure they're getting their money's worth.

... I hope they fixed the animation codec though. It was really broken in some QT 5 renditions. files that should've compressed to ~250K were coming out as 10M ... I almost had to abandon QT for a proprietary windows codec 'till I found the OS 9 version worked if I tweaked the settings appropriately.
