I have a Mac OSX G4 Tower. Whenever i log on to my account the screen goes black. It's not the admin account.

Have you recently made any alterations to the settings of your account, display wise?

No, i was on internet explorer and then it unexpectidly quit. Next the screen just went black and when i log back on it goes black again.

Do you have the OS Cd handy? Use that to start up the machine (hold down the C key after you boot up and insert the CD). At the installer screen go to the Installer menu and select Disk Utility. Now run Repair disk, and when done, do a repair permissions.
When done, select restart and see if you can get a working desktop.

how about booting into the single user mode (boot and hold apple+s) and then type fsck -yf
