I am not good with computers. I accidentally deleted over 1000 songs and tv shows from my computer by putting the itunes folder in the trash and emptying the trash unwittingly. I don't know how it happened. anyway I can get them back?
 
Possibly. There are file recovery programs and professional help, but be prepared to dish out at least $100. If it's your own CDs combined with iTunes Music Store stuff, you can just re-import, and I believe you can also get a second download of things you've purchased from iTunes if you contact them.
 
You could try a piece of software called Senuti, just do a Google search for it. I'm not sure if it is shareware or freeware, but it will let you copy from your iPod bac to your Mac.

If you are looking for a free method however, the songs on your iPod are in a hidden directory as well. Once your iPod is mounted, from Terminal you can go into the directory. Your songs are in random filename format - so you'd have to rename them manually, or import them into iTunes again (if they have ID3 Tags, then iTunes will automatically pull out the info)

If not sure about Terminal however, then this method is probably not for you :)
