PlusOptimizer speed

I am running PlusOptimizer under and OS 9 bootable CD, and it is REALLY slow. Stage 3 is saying 300+ minutes. Is this normal? I don't remember what it said last time. This is on a 60-gig drive and I'm not sure how fragmented it is.

that's not bad at all for a 60 gb drive, especially if it's the first time or has been a long while.

only norton would be faster but then you run all sorts of other risks.

this is why i always do my defragging at night while i sleep. ;)
 
Ah, I see. Is this Plusoptimizer or defragging in general? I never saw FAT/NTFS drives defrag this slowly.

So it's in the "moving files" stage with over 300 minutes to go. Do you think it would cause a lot of problems to stop it and do it again when I go to sleep? I would have to do an ugly reset since I lose my keyboard and mouse when I was rerouting things.

with plus optimizer, you should be safe to stop and do it all over again before going to sleep. if it were speed disk you would be risking all your data.
techtool pro is also safe to stop at any time and it takes almost twice as long to work.

speed varies by app doing the work, size of drive, number and size of files, etc.
