popup warning in Mail

Very occasionally, when I reply to a message in Mail, I have recently gotten a popup warning me that my (Earthlink) certificate has expired, I may be sending a message to someone posing as my path (symptauth...whatever) do I want to continue? I don't even know what an SSL is. In my prefs it is unchecked. My email is working fine. How to eliminate these popups? I already was forwarded to your little blog on this but don't know what to do.

SSL settings are found in Mail preferences under the advanced tap. If SSL is required by your email/Internet Service provider, it should be set to password. Go to your ISPs website to find out what the correct Mac Mail settings should be.
