Long time ago, yes. You'd find help on, erh, gmail.com. Just look at the settings/help stuff.

yeah. i tried that. i don't what's going on. I followed the directions from (http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=13275&topic=1555) but to no avail. Anybody else had trouble and was then able to resolve it?

Well... The only difficulty I see is that you need to have the right ports, i.e. the SSL-connection working. The instructions you linked to are working perfectly for me. I _am_ using a different SMTP, though, but that only has an effect on mail-sending, not receiving.

Works for me. Here's how I got it working. Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Account Information, and enter these values:

Email Address: your_user_name@gmail.com
Incoming mail server: pop.gmail.com
User name: your_user_name
Password: your_password

Click the Server Settings button at the bottom, and enter these:

Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.gmail.com
Server port: 465
Use Secure Sockets Layer: √
Authentication: Password
User name: your_user_name
Password: your_password

Click OK, and go to the Advanced tab in the main prefererences window to enter the final settings:

Enable this account: √
Port: 995
Use SSL: √
Authentication: Password

That should do it. If not, you may need to configure a firewall or something.
