power g4 500 can't power up

my friends has given his died powerbook to me
as it can't power up
no signal , no harddisk sound
i've checked the power, it can charge my ibook
but it can't charge the powerbook
it seems the logic board is something wrong
and we don't know why
do anyone has faced this problem?
will any website teach us how to repair /check the logic board by DIY?

As far as I know, the power adaptors for the iBooks and PowerBooks are different, and you cannot use one to charge the other (even though they look similar).

PowerBookMedic.com would probably be a good place to start.
