My PowerMac G4 has an issue that has developed as of late where it goes into screen saver mode and fails to come back out of it. The mouse and keyboard are both unresponsive. Sometimes it goes back to the desktop and sometimes it doesn't. The only way to shut it off is to push and hold down on the power button. I have added an HP all in one printer to the computer. HELP!

Did you install the hp software that came with the printer? Sometimes hp software interferes with the sleep function of Mac OS X... try unplugging the printer from the computer and/or uninstalling the drivers and see if your computer exhibits the same sleep problems... if not, the culprit may be with the printer and/or the hp software.

It seems that my keyboard and mouse did not like being plugged into the usb ports on the back of the apple studio display (LCD). I had uninstalled the HP printer drivers and was still getting the freezing issue until i plugged the keyboard directly into the tower instead. I'm going to reinstall the software for the printer next to see if it still works. Once that's done, I will repost with the results.
