Power-On Key Combo for new G4?

I come from a world where the keyboards have a power button, that was one of the coolest things that always distinguished a Mac from a PC.

Anyway, my new G4 only has the unwieldy stainless steel power-on button on the G4 tower itself, and the Apple Pro keyboard has no visible Power-on button.

To make a short story long, is there a key combo to simply Power-on my machine? I'm not the type of guy who puts my machines to sleep.

Sorry to say this, but No. The new machines do not have a power button on the keyboard. That is one thing that I miss.

That's terrible.

I'm trying to visualize the meeting where the decision was made to get rid of it and the reasons for getting rid of it, but, I can't because it would look a funny episode of Seinfeld.

I mean, it makes absolutely no sense. What a shame.

Not all Macs have supported the soft power switch (most LCs, some quadras, others from time to time). I think the Apple flat displays will allow power on from the display power, turn on the display and your system boots. I personally don't shut down my system very often, only if I'll be gone a few days. Otherwise, I just use sleep. Amazing how fast you're back at work, just press a key, and 2 or 3 seconds - wham, bam!
