For a few days now my G4 (733MG, X.26) has been shutting itself off after a few minutes. There are times when nothing happens when I press the start button on the front of the computer or the flat panel. One time yesterday when trying to start, there was a humming sound which lasted a few seconds, the lit button flashed a few times then the computer shut down. It starts up sometimes but again shuts down after some time is spent.
I changed surge protectors, unplugged all USB devices and monitor, made sure the AC plug was secure. The people at my local APPLE repair shop think it sounds like a power supply that needs replacing. Any suggestions?
