Power & Wireless LEDs turn off on router.

I just posted this on a Linksys forum and thought I might get a better response here.

I have a Linksys WRT54GX2 wired/wireless router, firmware 1.01.06. Over the past week, this has happened 6 times: the power and wireless LEDs turn off, the ethernet and internet LEDs flicker like mad. While it's like that, all LAN and WAN traffic is disabled. It is connected to a DSL modem and the LEDs there appear normal. If I cycle power on the router, it returns to normal. I have not yet connected this behavior to any special events on my LAN. Does anyone have a suggestion?

The router is 3.5 years old and has worked pretty much flawlessly until now. My LAN consists of 3 Macs, 3 PCs, and a network printer. Most items are wired; visitors may use wireless.

If the power is intermittent on your router, sounds like it's time to shop for a replacement. If your router has an external power supply, then you could try replacing just that.

I had the router, and a couple other low power devices, plugged into a power strip which was plugged into an APC box. I replaced the $3 power strip and haven't had any trouble since! That's the good news.

The bad news is I did the above AFTER I blew $80 on a new router. Live and learn.
