Powerbook forgets stuff after sleep

Hey guys,

This happened to me a bunch of times already, started when I just go the powerbook and hasn't happened in about 2 weeks until now.

All I did was close my powerbook's lid, and when I came back and opened it up, all my settings were lost. I had to redo all the settings on Safari and Mail, and pretty much all the rest of the applications lost the personal settings, like I've never ran them before.

Do you guys know what this could be?

All my files and eveyrthing are still there, even the recently changed icons for some folders, etc.

Thanks,

Oleg

Could this happen because I re-named some folders in Finder?

Exactly which folders did you rename?

If you renamed your home folder, then yes, that can cause serious problems, as the system now doesn't know where to look for your settings... it's best to leave pre-installed folders alone and only rename folders that you actually created yourself. Along those same lines, it's best to leave installed applications inside the "Applications" folder and resist the temptation to "clean it up" or "organize it" -- this applies to the rest of the system as well. OS X installs things where it needs them, and if you go renaming folders and moving stuff around, unexpected results can occur, including the apparent loss of settings and data.
