Powerbook g3 333 network problems and stuff

Ok on I can't find a network, I have a linksys 801.11g router, so you know basically airport extreme without the extra features, no I hurd that balkin and linksys don't get along is that true?, also, I have an old ibook first gen, that I gutted to get the hardrive out of and put in my powerbook, because it was much bigger, I noticed that I could put the Balkin card into the slot for the airport and it actually fit on the pins and everthing, so my question is, if I took an old airport card, and stuck it in my PC slot, would that work? also did the PC slot airport cards go any faster than 11mbs or where they all 802.11b? I mean it doesn't matter I don't think my mac can keep up with 54mbs a second anyway, lol
