Powerbook slowly dying like [censored]...

has a mac beyond repair
My powerbook lately has been sluggish. I tried repairing permissions so when I came back, the screen was all gray and i rebooted. Apple Soundtrack wont work. FCP and iMovie dont work sometimes. It's insanely slow. Web browsing sometimes gets like these 56k speeds and I have a 4mbps Cable modem airport xtreme network. iChat gets frozen once in awhile...this is really becoming a pain. All the iApps seem to be getting bad. Anyone have any ideas on how to help? I have...oh wait. Now I cant check my disk space because the hard drive icon isnt clickable...whats going on?!

BTW, it's spelled Reagan. If you're going to try and be cute with the topic headline, at least spell the name correctly. ::angel::

ok great. i hate republicans. The new user seemed to work a little better but I believe it's still slow.

Well, it shouldn't matter if you hate republicans or not. Give the man some respect, he played a large role in ending the cold war, and reuniting Germany.

...and was a fine actor to boot. ;)

This thread shouldn't be discussing Reagan at all -- take that to the general forum.

drunkmac: you need to be more specific about the problems. You say you repaired permissions, but when you came back, the "screen was all grey." All grey? A flat, grey screen? Sounds like the computer rebooted or something. Try sitting in front of the computer while you're doing a repair (permissions/disk/etc.) and watch it closely -- sure, it takes a long time, but you need to know what's going on. What exactly happens before the screen goes grey? Have you tried rebooting from the OS X install CD and repairing the disk?
